The Power of Meditation

Over the past year I have begun a meditation practice as part of my personal development process, and by far it has been the most beneficial tool I have learned. After all it's one of the worlds oldest spiritual practices and is becoming more mainstream everyday, practiced by millions of people throughout the world. The majority of successful people in the world whether it be business or entertainment, the sciences or industry have some form of Meditation or spiritual practice.

What is Mediation?

Mediation is the practice of quieting ones mind. That's it, it's that simple. If you can become aware that the constant chatter in your head is not you or your true self then you can start to quiet that voice and become truly free. The "Voice" in your head that is always talking, thinking in the past or future and generally causing you all kinds of trouble is your Ego and is not truly you. When you become aware of the difference you can start to control this voice and quite it down, making room for all that is good in life.

Where to start?

Pick a quite place, a calming place. Somewhere you are alone and won't be disturbed. Start by setting an alarm for 10min, you can work your way up over time. I started with 10 min and now I meditate for 40-60 min every morning. What a way to start the day, with a quite mind!!!

Sit comfortably in a chair or on a yoga mat, be comfortable but so not so much you fall asleep. The goal is to quite the mind, not sleep. Now just sit still, let the thoughts that enter your mind come in, and like a peaceful river let them float on by. Don't judge or label the thoughts, just recognize them and let them go. Over time and with practice these thoughts become less and less and you will start to see and feel the Joy of a quite mind. The goal here is to sit in absolute stillness with a quite mind. This will allow you to feel and experience your true self, feel your breathe, your own heart beat and you will feel a connection with yourself never felt before, and this is YOU!

There are hundreds of different meditation practices so do some research to find what's best you, but don't get caught up in all the information. The goal is to just experience the moment with a quiet mind.

Have an amazing day! With the right Mindset, anything is possible!!
